The first round of The Masters Tournament has begun, and Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club brought a mix of skill, tension, and surprises.
As the leaderboard starts to form, it’s worth noting that Thursday is more about setting up for the rest of the tournament than winning outright. Still, a few early stories are already taking shape.
In the first round, both the expected favorites and some unexpected names appeared near the top of the leaderboard.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy came in as favorites and showed why they’re seen as top contenders.
