Taking inspiration from Rory McIlroy, I am locking myself in my garage, hitting balls into my net, to engrain feels and work solely on my body and swing without seeing any ball flight to react or adjust to.
In the month of December, I focused on my takeaway and tempo. Over Christmas break, I had trouble hitting balls since I was out of town, but I still worked on my feels and my body, taking slow, rehearsed swings with no ball and often no club.
What I have been tasked with, now that my backswing is in a good place, is to get the club more on plane in the transition early downswing. I have been doing some mirror work and slow rehearsals to try and get the correct feeling on the downswing to pull down more and keep the club on plane.

As you can see in the DTL below, I take the club inside, and my downswing starts over the top, finishing by releasing the club to the left. This led to a lot of blocked shots right as I got stuck at times, and/or to taking the club inside, which would inadvertently put my path to the right.

Takeaway is more on plane, keeping the club more in front. Downswing is now more on plane and I’m no longer releasing it left, now on target.

Stronger grip, can see not breaking wrist because of the inside takeaway. Getting club more on plane is allowing me to eliminate 80% of the slide and have more rotation.
Still have improvements to make, but I am on my way. Right now, I do speed training Monday and Thursdays and then swing 8 iron and 4 iron every day. As the month goes on, I will start hitting all my clubs in order to work through the bag with my updated feels.
